About

The Four Mile will start and finish at The Rocky Mount Mills, and take runners on a scenic view of Rocky Mount's Battle Park.  This park runs parallel to the Tar River, and shortly before the halfway point, crosses the river over what was once the longest wooden suspension bridge in the US.

The 1.5 Mile Fun Run and Walk will start with the Four Mile race and will turn around shortly after entering the park.  This shorter distance is perfect for young participants, or participants who require walking.

Q: Why are you doing this race?

A: Caroline and Michael Forrester worked together as daughter and father to create the Rocky Mount Mills 5k.  It grew to something beyond their imagination with 450 registered participants and now over $100,000 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  After the race Caroline and Michael decided together to do it one more time, but this time to raise money for a charity that impacts their family on a personal level.  Learn more by clicking on "Our Story".

Q: What are the age restrictions for the 4-Miler?

A: Utilizing the Road Runner Club of America Fundamentals of Youth Running guidelines, the minimum age for the 4-miler is 8 years old on the day of the event and those participants age eight or nine are strongly encouraged to run with a registered adult.  The minimum age for the 1.5-Mile Fun Run is 6 years old on the day of the event.  Proper training is key.  The first time your child shows they can safely complete a four mile run should not be in the race.  Please set your child up for success and help establish a love of running.  Four miles is a long distance.  Don't push them beyond their limits.  Instead let them build confidence in the 1.5 mile fun run.

Q: Can I walk?

A: Yes.  You are welcome to walk the 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk

Q: Who does the race benefit?

A: Although Ursula is the inspiration for this race, no proceeds are going to her.  Our passion is to help the cause and will give to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
